Village Budget Hearing

On April 4th at 7:00pm there will be a Public Hearing at Village Hall on the Tentative Village Budget for the fiscal year beginning June 1, 2023.

We are projecting that we will end this fiscal year spending a little over our budget and our revenue will be significantly higher than budgeted.  Major impacts on spending include a higher cost for our Village Hall renovations (which will be starting soon), acceleration of our records scanning project, and the unbudgeted Sherri/Arcadian path lighting project.  All these items are at least partially offset by grants obtained by the Village.  On the revenue side, there was more building permits in the Village than anticipated, higher sales and mortgage tax collections, higher fees and cost shares collected from utilities, higher interest rates on our deposits, and excellent results from our work to collect fines on tickets issued in past years.

For next year we are budgeting to spend more than the current year (mostly using our surplus from previous years) for some capital projects including repairing drainage on Martha Road, replacing a culvert on Wesley Chapel Road, installing speed tables on East Willow Tree Road, and beginning the design work on the Willow Tree Road sidewalk project.  Some of these items are will be wholly or partially offset by grants.  We are budgeting our revenues to be slightly lower than last years budgeted revenues, but we will not be increasing taxes for the second year in a row.

You can click HERE to view the budget.  In addition, the budget is available for your review at Village Hall during business hours (9am-4pm M-F).  For comparison purposes, the last 13 years of Village budgets may be found HERE.

You are invited to attend, ask questions and make comments both at the meeting and via e-mail or mail. E-mailed or written submissions from residents will be read at the meeting.

Best regards,

Marshall Katz, Mayor
