Daylight Saving Time Ends, Check your Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00am Sunday morning November 5th. Along with changing your clocks, this is also a good time to check your smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Use the test buttons at least once a month to make sure that your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are in good working order.
- Check that your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are not expired – you can find the date of manufacture on the back.
- Replace all smoke alarms when they are ten years old or if they do not respond when tested. For carbon monoxide alarms, always check the manufacturer's instructions and expiration date.
- For more information visit the National Fire Protection Association's webpages for smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
