Village Receives Un-budgeted Funds

Your Village Board members and State Representatives have been quite successful this year in obtaining non-budgeted funds for the Village that has/will allow us to address needed upgrades to our infrastructure without burdening our taxpayers.

  • $251,488.26 from Orange and Rockland - O&R had dug trenches in all the roads in the Dutch Village section of the Village to replace aging gas lines.  We negotiated with O&R over the restoration of these roads to a condition acceptable to the Village, and O&R agreed to pay us 1/2 the cost of a full repaving of the roads instead of just patching their trench.  The Village used O&R's contribution in conjunction with funds from our reserves to fully repave all the affected roads.  In my experience these newly paved roads should not need repaving for at least 10 years.
  • $75,000 from New York State.  Our thanks to State Assemblymen Kenneth Zebrowski who represents 1/2 the Village in the State Assembly.  Assemblyman Zebrowski obtained funding for the Village for Capital Projects through the State's Multi-Modal #4 Program which we will be putting towards road repaving over and above our regular repaving funds, during next year's paving season.
  •  $16,982 Stormwater Grant.  These funds go towards the cost of Village Engineer's participation in the Stormwater Consortium of Rockland County and the Village's share of the GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping project that the Consortium has been undertaking.  We had budgeted to receive $15,000, so we have received an additional $2,000 over our budget.
  • $669,571 2018 BridgeNY Grant.  These funds will go towards replacing the culvert under Wesley Chapel Road at its intersection with Grandview Road.  The replacement of this old culvert (which dates back to the 1940's) has been on the Village's radar screen for several years, and we are really happy that we can now have it done with no effect on your taxes.
