Save Money on Your Utility Bills with the Wesley Hills Community Choice Aggregation Program

Wesley Hills Choice

Utility bills have been in the news lately with articles talking about people being surprised by hefty increases as energy rates have skyrocketed due to inflation, the pandemic, and the situation in the Ukraine.  This has not been the case for Wesley Hills residents who are participating in our Community Choice Aggregation programs (CCA) and have been enjoying a fixed rate that has not been affected by these and other market forces.

For electricity, while O&R’s trailing 12-month variable rate has reached 8.1¢ per KWH, our CCA program rate has been fixed at 6.524¢ saving the average participant around $160 over the last 12 months.  Participants who opted for our green energy rate of 7.384¢ saved $70.  Our CCA electricity rates are fixed through next January and program participants will be advised of the new rate once bids are solicited and received.

For natural gas, O&R’s trailing 12-month variable rate is 44.7¢ per therm.  Participants in our CCA program have been paying a fixed rate of 37.3¢ per therm, saving the average participant around $79 over the last 12 months. Our CCA natural gas rates are fixed through this November and program participants will be advised of the new rate once bids are solicited and received.

Our program is only open to Wesley Hills residents who can choose to opt in or out of the program at any time, just visit this LINK or call Constellation NewEnergy, directly at (833) 475-5228 to sign up for electricity, and Great American Gas & Electric at (866) 269-9393 directly to sign up for natural gas.  For more information about either program call (833) 696-3759 to speak with the Village’s CCA administrator.

Residents can determine if they are participating in our CCA programs by looking at their utility bills:

  • If there is a supplier supplement page that lists “Constellation New Energy CCA” as their electric supplier, then you are in our CCA electric program.
  • If there is a supplier supplement page that lists “GAGE CCA” as their natural gas supplier, then you are in our CCA natural gas program.
  • If there are no supplier supplement pages you are paying O&R’s variable rate and are not in the CCA program.
  • If there are supplier supplement page(s) that list any other supplier, then you are not in the CCA program and have contracted with another supplier.  In this case it may or may not be advantageous to switch into the Village’s CCA program. This would depend on the rate you are paying and if you have signed up for a fixed rate program that has an early termination penalty.

This is just one of the ways Wesley Hills is working to help our residents save money.

Marshall Katz, Mayor
